The tragedy and ongoing crisis in Haiti have raised questions about shipping services to that country. First, the rumors that our good friends at UPS are offering free shipping to Haiti are completely unfounded. In fact, UPS has suspended service to Haiti for the time being for reasons that are certainly apparent from news reports. So have the other well-known parcel carriers. (You can read UPS’s official statement on the situation here.)
If you’re interested in providing general relief you should of course go through the proper channels, which you can learn more about here. If you’re trying to find someone who can ship to an individual in Haiti, we are aware of a company called CAS Xpress that normally ships to warehouses in Port-Au-Prince and Cap-Haitien. They have suspended shipments to the capital at Port-Au-Prince, but are still able to ship to Haiti’s second largest city, Cap-Haitien, by air. If you want to find out more, here’s a link to the CAS Xpress website. We are not affiliated with this company in any way and therefore cannot endorse them one way or the other. And we certainly urge caution for anyone trying to send a shipment to an individual in an area that has suffered a natural disaster.
